Rural Brazos Valley Star (RBVS) is a Professional Development Grant for STAR (Schools, Teachers, Administrators & Regions) project funded by Texas Education Agency (TEA). RBVS is a partnership between three independent school districts Somerville ISD, Hearne ISD, and Snook ISD and the Texas A&M University North Texas STEM Center. Snook ISD takes part as a mentor district in the project.
RBVS goals are:

  • Improve student academic achievement through use of technology in elementary and secondary schools
  • To assist every student in crossing the digital divide by ensuring that every student is technology literate
  • To encourage the effective integration of technology and systems with training and curriculum development to establish research-based instructional methods that can be widely implemented as best practices by state and educational agencies

To achieve RSVB goals we facilitate participating districts and teachers to:

  • Develop new learning environments that utilize-technology as a flexible tool learning is collaborative, interactive and customized for the individual learner
  • Ensure full integration of appropriate technology throughout all curriculum and instruction
